Prison-Industrial Complex

The United States possesses far and way the largest number of prison inhabitants per-capita in the world, representing five times the normal rate of incarceration.  Over half of the United States' inmates are serving for drug-related offenses, with drug felonies also owning the longest average duration for punishment, exceeding white collar fraud and violent offenses.

Decriminalizing drugs allows these people a chance at productivity, and facilitating rehabilitation programs as are prescribed to alcoholics will increase their odds. This population will re-acclimate to society and will help reduce repeat offenders as well.
